Biographical Sketches

Marie Geralda Arsenault

Sisters of St. Martha - Prince Edward Island My name is Marie Geralda Arsenault. My home was in Egmont Bay, Prince Edward Island. Before I entered I worked at St. Dunstan's University & at the Charlottetown hospital. I entered Religious Life because God called me and it wasn't easy for me because I fought against it for a long time. I was so scared because I didn't think I could be a sister, but the call kept nagging at me so I decided to give into God & give it a try. I chose the Sisters of St. Martha because I thought this is where God was calling me. I had many struggles through-out my religious life but I felt God leading me. God continues to shower me with unconditional love and that is what is keeping me here. I wouldn't change my life as a Sister for the world!!!

Audrey Marian Brocklehurst

Sister Audrey BrocklehurstMy name is Audrey Marian Brocklehurst. My home is in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Before I entered the Sisters of St. Martha I was a Radio & Television broadcaster for 18 years in Sydney. I entered Religious Life first of all, because God called me & I have a burning desire to spread the gospel values, follow Jesus & spread his love. I wanted this to be my sole focus in life and I feel the best way to accomplish my goals is by living the life of a Sister.

I chose the Sisters of St. Martha of PEI because I love their charism, "Love & Service" and their "Joie de Ia Vie"!!! What's keeping me here is the fact I love this way of life, I am discovering everyday who I am & I am deepening my relationship with Jesus Christ which is fulfilling and enriching me.

Mary and Ann Sullivan

Sisters Mary and Ann SullivanIdentical twin sisters, Mary and Ann Sullivan recently celebrated 70 years of service with the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha. The 90-year-old sisters left their home in Roseneath on a cool February day in 1930 and embarked on a life-long spiritual journey. During their years of ministry, the sisters were always in different locations, but now in retirement, they spend all their time together. The sisters enjoy living and are joyful women. When asked if they have any regrets, the answer is, "No, we're doing God's work and it has been a happy life."

St. Martha, our patroness and model, you received Jesus into your home in a spirit of simplicity attentiveness and hospitality. You proclaimed Jesus as "the Christ, the one who was to come into this world."
